The flight to Paro is one of the eye-catching of the highest mountains in the world. You will see great Himalayan peaks like Everest, Kanchenjunga, and Makalu. Take the first glimpse of a happy country. On arrival at Paro Airport, you will be welcomed and escorted by company representatives from Bhutan Travel Light Tours and taken to the hotel. Start your first sightseeing trip to Bhutan through Nyima Zam Bridge and Rinpung Dzong, a castle and a monastery. One of Bhutan’s tentative sites in the UNESCO plan lists for future World Heritage Sites. This is where Bernardo Bertolucci’s film “Little Buddha” was shot. Just above the dzong stands Ta dzong (watchtower fortress), now converted into the National Museum of Bhutan. If you have a morning flight, you will take a short hike to Zuri Dzong, home to the valley’s local protector. On the way to town, stop at the Iron Bridge Maker temple and visit Kyichu Lhakhang, the first-ever built temple in the country. The day ends up exploring the elegant traditional houses of Paro town.

Today, after breakfast, you will be prepared to visit the notable landmark of the Kingdom of Bhutan. Nevertheless, your day will be exciting during your stay in Bhutan. You will be hiking the top icon of Bhutan, sitting more than 800 meters above Paro Valley; the most heart-touching ‘Taktsang’ (Tiger Nest monastery) perches on a cliff face of the mountain. It is renowned to the outside world for its uniqueness and spectacular position. Once done with the Tiger Nest hike, you will drive to the military camp of Gunitsawa, where the trek starts. The first night of camping will be just above the military camp at an elevation of 2800M.

Note: Please check all the necessary trekking gear as you get ready to drive to the watchtower fortress (Ta Dzong). From here, you will start for the Druk Path Trek. The first day will be quite difficult as you will be climbing more than 1000m elevation through apple orchards to a pine forest. As you ascend, your vegetation will change to the mixed alpine forest where one can see pines, trees, hemlocks and scrubs, and firs. Finally, you will reach Jele Dzong, a small caste and Buddhist monastery. If time permits, you can visit Jele Dzong and the nearby sites or visit tomorrow morning—camp at 3480 m.

TREK 10KM |4 – 5 HOURS | ASCEND 310M |50M DESCENT | CAMP ALT 3770M

TREK 10KM |6 – 7 HOURS| 400M ASCENT|300M DESCENT | CAMP ALT 3870M
The trail follows the ridge as you keep changing elevation, where you will ascend and descend frequently through the pass. You can see a stunning view of the Jomolhari peak (7315M) here. Keep on walking until you reach the junction, which separates two trails. Both trails lead to Jimilang Tsho, but we suggest taking the upper trail due to the better views. If you feel tired, you can take the lower trail. After walking, you will reach Jimilang Tsho, which is considered a sacred lake. Overnight camp at 3870M

TREK 11KM |4 – 5HOURS| 760M ASCENT|500M DESCENT | CAMP ALT 4110M
Start hiking up from the lake to the north side this morning through dwarf rhododendron trees. As you keep moving, you will reach Dungtsho Lake; half of the lake is surrounded by rock cliffs and is considered a holy place. Moreover, you will come across yak herder’s camp, where our representatives will share the story behind them. Later, your trail winds down to a deep valley. Continue walking on the ridge; view the surroundings until you reach Simkotra Lake for today’s campsite—camp at 4110M.

TREK 14KM |7 – 8 HOURS| 100M ASCENT| 1800M DESCENT
Today is the last day for the trek. The morning starts from Simkotra Lake. First, gently until you reach the pass marked with a white stupa. From here, you can see the highest mountain of Bhutan, Gangkhar Punesum, to the east direction and a far-eye view of Thimphu Valley. From here, you will start descending to another lake and climb to another pass called Phume La Pass (4210M). From there, you can get the best view of Thimphu. Continue descending, and you will reach Phajoding Monastery (3870M). Take a rest at the monastery and visit the site. Once you finish visiting the Phajoding site, slowly start descending until you reach the roadside where your trek ends. There your car will be waiting. Bid goodbye to your trekking teams and your drive back to the hotel. Overnight, stay at Thimphu.

In the morning, make an excursion to Dochula Pass (3100M) to see the panoramic view of Bhutan’s most astounding, highest snow-clad Himalayan peaks. It is the best place for photographers to take a picture of a 360-degree aerial view of 108 Stupas and the snow-clad Himalayas peak. Afternoon visits Buddha’s Point (gigantic bronze Buddha Dordenma statue) located on the mountain overlooking the southern approach of Thimphu town. You will take a short hike to see a panoramic view of the statue. Later, you will join the Buddhist devotees in performing their daily rituals and prayers at the whitewashed semi spherical Memorial Chorten. You will have a walk from Norzin Lam Street to see Thimphu’s clock tower. Interestingly, here, you will see the traffic police signaling in the heart of the town junction. However, you will continue your walk to the handicraft market, where varieties of Bhutanese souvenirs are displaced and bought for a reasonable price. Your day will end with visiting Tashichho Dzong (The castle that serves as the seat of the king and government). Overnight, stay at Thimphu

On this day, your guide and driver will drop you at Paro airport, where your tour guide and driver will bid you goodbye. It was nice meeting you, and we hope you enjoyed the beauty of our country. We expect you to visit again for a longer duration.
