Getting into Bhutan
Travellers can enter Bhutan either by air or by land. But our company personally recommends that our valued guests travel to Bhutan by air to save time and enjoy the most exciting and highest mountains in the world, which is possible if they travel by air.
Travel by Air
Bhutan has only one international airport, Paro International Airport, which is 2,200m (7300 ft) above sea level and surrounded by high mountains. Drukair and Bhutan Airlines operate regular flights to Paro International Airport.

Bhutan Tourism Policy
Bhutan is known as one of the high-end tourist destinations in the world. Bhutan enjoys a reputation for authenticity, remoteness, and a well-protected cultural heritage and natural environment. Bhutan Tourism Policy is on a vision of high-value, low-impact. Bhutan as an exclusive travel destination based on Gross National Happiness. Bhutan tourism’s primary goal is to achieve sustainability, where tourism must be environmentally and ecologically friendly, culturally acceptable, and economically viable.
Bhutan Visa procedure
Tourists visiting Bhutan must obtain a valid visa clearance document issued by the Department of Immigration of Bhutan before travelling to Bhutan. Unlike most countries that issue visas from their embassies and stamp them in your passport, Bhutan operates differently. Bhutanese embassies abroad cannot directly issue visas for visits to Bhutan. Your Bhutan visa will be processed online by a registered Bhutanese tour operator. Bhutan Travel Light Tours can
proceed with your Bhutan visa. For that, you have to send a scanned copy of the front photo page
of your passport, which should be more than six months of validity from the travel date. Visa will
be processed by the Immigration Department and Department of Tourism Bhutan (DoT) unless
the full tour payment, including the $ 40 Visa Fee, has to be wire transferred to the corresponding
bank of Bhutan. It takes a maximum of one week of working hours to obtain the visa. At your
point of entry at the airport, show your visa clearance document. The Bhutan visa gets stamped
into your passport. Tourists without a valid visa clearance document are denied at the airport.
Important note: Except for visitors from India, Bangladesh, and Maldives, all other visitors to Bhutan require an E-visa.
Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldives nationals can obtain a visa/entry permit at the entry point by
showing a valid passport with a minimum of 6-month validity (Indian nationals can use their
Voter Identity Card if they don’t have a passport).

Climate and Season (Best time to visit Bhutan)
The best time and season to visit Bhutan is from March to April. Spring is delightful as various flowers bloom and plants budge after a long, cold winter. Colourful flowers like rhododendrons, wild azaleas, and edelweiss cover the meadows like carpet, adding a new wonder to Bhutan’s landscape. Trekking will open after a long, cold winter. Another season to visit is from September to November. Autumn is the time when the entire landscape turns into a golden colour. Blue skies are just amazing views of Bhutan’s landscape, and it is time for outdoor activities like trekking to reopen. Winter is quite cold as the evening hour turns chilly, and summer brings rainfall to most parts of the place.
